What is wrong with my 99 Saab 9-3?

I have a 99 Saab 93 and recently changed the DI cassette. Car works great now, but the Chk eng lite stays on.

    The check engine light flashing is an indication that a catalyst damaging event is occurring. This manifests itself as an engine misfire. If not remedied quickly you could find yourself buying a new converter as the old one will be damaged. When raw unburned fuel is pushed out the cylinders it accumulates in a hot converter. This added fuel will make the converter temperature soar and permanently destroy the internal materials. When you replaced your DI you should have replaced your spark plugs as well. Have someone scan the Trionic and diagnose the engine problem.

You do not say if you changed the plugs with the DI cassette. If not do so. The only plug(s) you are to use, no matter what the pimply faced kid at the counter of the chain auto store tells you, if a 4 cyl. use NGK brand BCPR6ES-11 or if mostly highway driven BCPR7ES-11's. If you have the 6 cyl. use NGK 6779 plugs. DO go to a chain store and have them pull your code(s). If the are P0300 or 301,302 etc. These are misfire codes and most likely due to not having proper plugs installed. These are HARD codes and store until cleared. Your blinking MIL light could more likely be due to un-metered air entering or leaving the system. Check your inter-cooler hoses as these now of an age that they crack and will bleed boost air causing the ECM to not interpret the air loss and cause an intermittent MIL light condition.
