How hard is it to become a pilot as compared to becoming a nurse?
-
I am in school for nursing, and I wanted to become a pilot in the future. How hard would it be in comparison to becoming a nurse?
-
Answer:
I think the only way to get this answer is to find a nurse that is also a pilot.... I can take a stab at it... (no pun) It would depend on your strengths and weaknesses. Nursing is mostly biology and chemistry, i believe. Also good human relational skills in nursing, that you wouldn't need to learn in piloting. Do you like bio and chem more or are you better with physics and math? Or are you good at both? The physics and math for pilots is a lot easier than taking collage physics and math. There is a fair amount of memorizing in becoming a pilot. There is another factor to becoming a pilot - physical skills in flying the plane. If you are fairly coordinated physically and good hand to eye coordination, piloting could come easy for you. You need to be able to stay calm under pressure also to be a pilot.

They are two completley different roles so depending on your own personnel qualities /abilities it's very difficult to impossible to draw up a comparison . However with the job market for fresh qualified frozen ATPL holders(CPL/IR/MCC) absolutley rubbish. It would probably be wise to become a nurse and get earning some decent money. Then in your spare time obtain a PPL at the cheapest flight school you can find(a ticket is a ticket) build hours then if you want do your ATPL writtens and CPL/IR part time.If you get a first officer position great ,and if it doesn't work out or you get laid off from the airlines at anytime you can fall back on your nursing profession. Good luck. @detroit :Most pilots don't make six figure salaries that is a myth ask Skipper747.I was offered a partial scholarships flying BAE ATPs in cargo(economic downturn ended the requirement).I would have been on £19,000 per year(roughly $24,000USD) ,I earn nearly twice that driving HGVs(in USA they call them rigs/semi's),and running my poultry farm.

Well, it would be better if you are a nurse, and your husband is a pilot in near future.

Probably a lot harder. Pilots go to specialized schooling and its very expensive. Where nursing can be studied part time at community college. Also where a nurse gets paid around the same as a cop, teacher, construction worker, or any other union job, pilots can easily make six figures. So its consummate to the amount of time you want to devote to what your doing. Will take twice as long. Airline pilots make fantastic money though. Don't drink and fly the plane please.

look at it this way, you shoot for the thing you want to be the most!, no matter how hard it is, you look at the details, learn what you can and what to expect! then you look at how to get started and what you need! other words GOOGLE YOUR *** OFF!! and when you retrieved the knowledge and have a good grasp on the concept then you go for it! do not get intimidated by anyone telling you how hard it is! because the greatest satisfaction in life is going for something that you want in life and succeeding! hope this helps!

I'm 13years old and currently living in SA and I've already started my own studying before I go to a flight school. Answering your question, it depends on what type of pilot your want to me like I want to be a commercial airline pilot. Its not easy studying to be a pilot and I'd say that its very difficult becomming a pilot compared to a nurse. Being a pilot takes lots of effort and if your work hard at the beggining then your hard work pays off for example to studying to be a pilot is a lot of money but then if u work hard you'll get your reward. There is some advantages and disadvantges though.
