    I have done a lot of research on those cars and if your looking for one to perform and be good I would go with a 87 or 88 the 84 and 85's had suspension and brake problems although they can be updated the newer 87 and 88 gt look is much more appealing. The above post is incorrect the cars were not junk and you will find they handle good and quite a bit of people would like the car to come back Engine fires only happened on a few and it was because of the oil pan undernieth. Many parts are specific to the vehicle and are hard to find. There are fiero clubs worth joining to gain repair and maintenance tips and tricks. Probably not the best choice for a first car unless you enjoy working on it.

NO this was not a good car when it was new, the mid engine design cost an arm and a leg to get worked on, parts are no longer available, and the car was extremely difficult to work on, and the overall design was poor, and the car is not durable and spends a lot of time broken in the shop.
