Read the code. It would be stupid to reset it without knowing what it is. EGR codes come from clogged sensors more often than bad valves.

You need to clear the code from the ECU. You will either need an OBDII tool to reset it, or you can unplug your cars battery for a few minutes. Upon reconnection the ECU should automatically reset.
