Lloret de Mar is absolutely touristy, I personally dislike this place. During the day it's fine, the beaches are OK, but at night, Lloret is the paradise of hooligans from the UK, France, Italy and Germany. If you want to experience the real local Catalan culture, you should make a one-day trip to Girona and/or to Barcelona, there are buses which link those places from Lloret.
