we booked a family holiday to salou for 1 week in the calypso hotel and we are now hearing salou has gone very run down and I would like to know the truth before any more money goes ...show more

Salou is not too bad. I drove through last month. Personally I would rather go to to Cambrils. Have a drive around on Google Earth. According to tripadvisor, your hotel seems a typical Package tour place for English guests. You get what you pay for; some love it, some hate it. (A major problem with English people just now seems to be greed. They want everything for nothing. Spain has not been a cheap destination for years.) Want somewhere nice? Try Sitges or Barcelona itself. The Hotel Arts in Barcelona is nice.
