Traveling to Rota, Spain?

  • I am traveling to Rota, Spain in the end of December for Christmas and am wondering if it gets pretty cold there? I was going to buy a wool peacoat for the trip but I don't if i ...show more

57 to 46 degrees F. It can sometimes actually freeze (just). It is colder in the mountains. Spain likes Visa credit and debit cards. Diners, Master and Amex are disliked. P.S.Regarding the credit cards. I know the area very well, spent years there (spying on the base for the Ruskis?), and as 'Saltire' points out, cash is number one in Cadiz. Spaniards can amaze you with the amount of cash they carry. Tourists should never carry too much cash. I rarely carry more than Euros 130. Visa is popular becuse they charge the smaller retailer a lower commission than the others. Diners is often refused by smaller retailers / shops.

Cash is kind of a pain, but, of course, you can't really walk into a bar and order a coffee and pay with a credit card. You need to have some, for taxis, snacks, small purchases, markets. But a credit card will get you along pretty well, mostly for purchases over 10€, like here. Debit works, as long as it's an ordinary credit card. Take a few along, just in case one gets rejected. Credit cards will get you the best exchange rate. Check to make sure the one you use charges 1% or less for the fees. I'm pretty sure 1% is as low as they go. It's the lowest I have. A pea coat ought to do you just fine. It gets cold, but not all that cold. Really? Visa is better? I used my Master for everything! No probably.
