Answer:
Hotel Catalonia Park is a little bit far away from downtown and not specially well connected, and also far away from the airport. The fastest and cheapest way from the airport should be with the airport bus Aerobus from any terminal to Plaça Universitat (Universitat Square) (the stop before the last one already in downtown) It is announced by the driver and once there taking the subway from Universitat Square itself to your hotel (Line 3) about twenty minutes. Or you could take the train from airport to Plaça Catalunya (forty minutes) and then FCG (commuter train) to Padua (about 20 minutes) I don't know if you have a lot of luggage, if yes it would be better a taxi directly from the airport that is only 20 km from city, but you can expet to pay 40 euros aproximately. From your hotel to Sagrada Família I would recommend a taxi (all taxis always run with taxi meter) but if you want to take the subway you should first take the underground commuter train from Padua to Provença and then walking to the Subway (notice they're different companies, but the subway ticket is worth for both companies) from Diagonal to Sagrada Familia (line 5) You can consult all routes you want at http://tmb.net this is a town hall owned web about all trains, subways and buses network in town. It's very useful and there's the section Want to Go To on the right side of the screen where you write the route and they offer you the best connections (advanced questions for monuments instead of streets) There you can see the different fares option they offer. I recommend multi trips card. One card worth ten trips for any passenger traveling altogether. If you want to go to Tibidabo you should take the blue tram (an old funny tram) and then the funicular to the top of the mountain. Barcelona views from Tibidabo are astonishing. You should take subway (line 7) from Putxet to Av. Tibidabo (just one stop) and then you can take the blue tram in the Square. Port Aventura is a different story. It's one hour and a half far away from Barcelona and you have to take the train from Plaça Catalunya or Sants Station with the national railways company. You can consult its website http://www.renfe.com for timetables and prices. By now they offer a combined return train ticket and entrance to the park for 47 Euros . You can buy combined tickets at any Renfe main station. You can check more offers there. My favorites places to wander in Barcelona are the Gothic area and the Born area. These are the areas around Barcelona cathedral and the church of Santa Maria del Mar, and also la Plaça del Pi (Pi Sqare). It's an very tourist area but full of narrow streets and old houses, nowadays full of small designer or curious shops. A quite interesting place to wander without rush. About new year... in Barcelona new year is mostly celebrated at private homes, or in Plaça Catalunya, but personally I don't like it because is quite full of drinking people and not so interesting. The fireworks tradition in Barcelona is not held on new year but on 23 Jun night, what we call "verbena de Sant Joan". Then fireworks are all night long almost till dawn. I hope you have a nice stay in Barcelona and enjoy your trip.
