Answer:
go to control panel, windows firewall, and check limewire. if it's already checked, follow these steps: WINDOWS XP INTERNET CONNECTION FIREWALL: Within LimeWire, go to: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewall Config Make a note of the Listening Port located in the box next to "Listen on Port" Go to Start -> Control Panel Open Network Connections Right Click on the connection you use to connect to the network Choose Properties Go to the Advanced Tab If your Firewalled is Enabled go to step 10 If you want to enable Windows XP Firewall check the box (this will enable the "settings" button. If you are not interested in enabling your Windows XP Firewall, hit cancel -- LimeWire will not be affected, and you may stop following these instructions. Under Windows Firewall Options, Go to the Advanced Tab. Select Internet connection used. (Local area network or the name of your connection) Click the Setting button Click the "Add..." button In the description field add "Gnutella" Set the IP address to "127.0.0.1" Check the TCP Radio button Set the external and internal ports to the same port that you made a note of in step 2 Press OK Repeat steps 13 to 16, except this time check the UDP radio button in step 16 Make sure the list of services has two items listed Gnutella, and make sure they are both checked. Click OK hope that helped!

to the guy who thinks he's safe with Norton: dude your computer's officially dead. Back to the question, just turn the firewall off (Control Panel>Security>Check Firewall Status>Off) and download Zone alarm, one of the best Firewalls out there http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp and for the antivirus, dude don't even think about keeping norton or panda, download Avast, it's free and better than those www.avast.com

go to the windows firewall and exceptions. Either check limewire or add it.
What kind of anti-virus do you have? Shut off your firewall on the computer. If you have an anti-virus software you'll be fine. I have to shut off my firewall for Limewire but I have Norton.
