How do you pursue a career in fashion marketing?

How can I pursue my career in fashion designing or any management jobs in fashion as i have finished my mba?

  The good and bad things about fashion is that for many of the roles, you have to start at the bottom, regardless of having an MBA. So in terms of what you'd like to do, you want to play to your strengths. I'll just address what you brought up in your question, but you should get a book on the fashion industry in order to see what the different job titles that are available to you. Modeling-depending on whether you are a man or a woman, (and really for both) the age range for these is very short, (and unfortunately if you're getting your MBA without being a child prodigy, for female runway models you're already over the hill.) This is easy, if you have any interest, find an agency, go there and see if you make the cut in terms of looks. Yes, there is a lot more work that happens after that in terms of taking care of yourself, promoting yourself, but if you can't get started then it's easy to rule that job out. Fashion Photographer-this job is also all about paying your dues, (and I'm assuming that you are already a photographer and own your own camera.) There are many avenues to break into this role, and most of them involve starting your own blog or volunteering to photograph for another online publication, and then you'd work your way up to getting more paid assignments. This is a freelance occupation-there is no full time job as a fashion photographer, so if you want the security of having a steady paycheck, then this isn't the job for you. (Same thing with modeling, I forgot to mention that above.) Painting-there is no job painting in the fashion industry. I know and have recruited for textile designers who paint, and very few can make a living full time painting designs. *If you are thinking that you want to be a fashion designer, this is not something you can easily jump into just because you have a solid art background.* You'd need to start getting internships ASAP. (I mean it, for an entry level design job you need at least 2 fashion design internships-not internships in the fashion industry, but internships on a design team.) Also you'll need a portfolio, and it is very difficult for your portfolio to compete with students who have been studying design. You can get a job via networking, but if you have no knowledge of draping, pattern-making, creating flats by hand and illustrator, it will be very hard for you to move beyond an internship. In Summary, play to your strengths. If Excel and analytical thinking are your strong suit, then you'd want to look into the Buying, Planning and Merchandising roles. If you're more interested in the product, then you'd want to look into being a product developer or production coordinator. There are tons of roles out there, but you want to make sure you have an understanding of all of them and how a product gets made before you make any moves.
