    I live in NY, too. Try taking a class at The Public. I took a Shakespeare intensive there this summer and had teachers that teach at NYU and even Julliard. Taking classes will give you experience and something to put on your resume. Also, if you get a chance to preform there, people in the business (agents, managers, directors, etc.) go to see shows there. It has amazing connections and anyone there could help you break into the acting and give you advice about getting an agent.

in order to be an actress you need to take alot of classes and once you have had enough send your headshot or picture of yourself and resume to a local agency. and avoid people with these names as they are scams! john robert powers john casablanca barbizon proscout etc... hope this helps and goodluck!

to start acting you need a lot of money OR have relatives working in the business OR have lots and lots of talent and hopefully someday you can be recognize. At your age there are tons of girls wanting to act, there is just too much competition and most of them don't even make it and end up wasting their money. Sorry but this is the reality, hope you also have other ambitions and do acting as a hobby.
