Is one source talent legit or a scam?

Ok, so I'm a 14 year old girl and I put in my name for consideration to act/model in a commercial. Next morning I check my voice mail and One Source Talent has left a message on ...show more

Answer:
"One Source Talent" is not a scam., As far as doing anything criminal. BUT, They do NOT represent actors, models, Nor do they book you for jobs. Which is what Talent/Acting Agencies do. So in that case, One Source Talent is NOT considered an agency. They are just a company who overcharges for headshots (When you can get headshots for a cheaper price locally). And they charge you for other stuff That you shouldn't be charged for. Now, You said that they put your name for "Consideration", which typically is used a lot in scam agencies. There's no possible way they can put you in a commercial or even close since they're not a casting agency. They're just a waste of money and time to be honest. I would suggest looking for an acting "Agency" in your local city. Good Luck!

One Source is NOT an agency. They are a paid for talent service. An agency NEVER makes you pay them and only takes a commission after they book you on a job. A talent service is not an agency in that they do not represent models and actors, do not book them on jobs and do not take a commission. You pay them for photos, classes and monthly fees They cannot book you on a commercial as they are not an agency Here is the BBB review if you want something unbiased http://www.la.bbb.org/business-reviews/Talent-Advertisers---Advance-Fee/One-Source-Talent-in-Beverly-Hills-CA-100069816 If you are looking for an actual agency that is going to book you on jobs then look on the AFTRA website for SAG-AFTRA agencies near you http://www.aftra.org/1098020CF8E64E9E8017CFA4DDC56BE0.htm Those with All Areas or a C under their name are agencies that book commercials

I don't know, but legit model/talent companies don't charge upfront fees. They take something like 15% of what you earn doing work they got you. If they ask for money up front, it's a scam.

You won't know until you try. There's no harm in trying. Besides, you have your mom with you. Be courageous and do it.
