Romeo and Juliet Act 3 Scene 1?

Romeo and Juliet Act 3 Scene 1 questions?

  • How is Mercutio stabbed? Why does Benvolio urge Tybalt and Mercutio to take their fight off the streets? Why does Romeo decide to fight Tybalt? Why doesn't Prince Escalus ...show more

  • Answer:

    1. Mercutio is stabbed because he wanted to get in a fight with Tybalt, but Romeo tried to stop them. By holding Mercutio back, making it an easy target to hit, he was stabbed and killed. 2. Romeo decides to fight because of his rage after Tybalt killed Mercutio. The only mistake Romeo made is that he wasnt looking at the big picture when he decided to have a duel with Tybalt. If Romeo did think about it, he would've stepped away, because he knew that he would get punished. That's a teenage boy for you, never looking at the big picture. 3. The Prince didn't execute Romeo because Benvolio explained to the prince that it wasn't entirely Romeo's fault. So in otherwords, the prince cut Romeo a bit of slack. Also because Prince was related to Mercutio. 4. Well when you read later on you will see that Juliet is saddened by Tybalt's death, but not as much as she is devistated that Romeo is banished. 5. hmmm. coincidence in this scene.. Well first of it was ironic that Romeo and Juliet were just married, and that Romeo tried to send everyone off peacefully and he ended up killing his new relative (Tybalt) Another one is when Mercutio and Benvolio forshadow the events that were about to take place. Hopefully that helped a little :) if you need any help with Romeo and Juliet just ask me:)
