  You're the same thing that everyone who ever got cast was at one point or another: a novice. So, accept this and go to the call and Watch, Listen, Remember. Watch what those with more experience do. Listen to what is being said and done around you. Remember everything so you can go to the next open casting call a bit more prepared. Every actor who attends a call is in the same situation: on the outside, looking in. The thing to NOT do is get discouraged. Watch, Listen, Remember. The next time will be a bit easier because you'll know what has been done before. Keep in mind that every director has his or her own way of proceeding. So, go with the flow. This above all: give it your best shot while knowing that your best shot at this point is time is ill-informed, ill-prepared, and most likely not going to have the results you want. Every first timer leaves an audition feeling despondent, humiliated, and ready to curse all actors and directors with poison ivy. But that's normal. Don't let these feelings keep you away the next time. Instead, you'll be a bit more prepared the next time around, and by golly, you're gonna knock 'em off their tootsies.
