What is the weather like in Bangkok and Phuket during the first two weeks of October?

  • I would be traveling sometime around the first two weeks of October, though I would want to know if its beach weather or if it's actually rainy, monsoon/typhoon, season.

    It's near the end of the rainy season in both places. High season in Phuket runs from November as that is typically the start of the dry season. I've had great holidays in Phuket in October though.

I don't know about Bangkok, but when I'm in Phuket is pretty wet. I'd avoid going south of Phuket the weather can be crappy.

People get weird when they hear monsoon. When I moved to Thailand ten yrs ago, I had visions of continuous rain for weeks and walking in floods. Well, it is not like that. Yes, there are some curb filling downpours that last all of two hours and then the sun comes out and stays for four or so days. The beach will give you cooling breezes and yet allow you partial nudity all day and night as you wish. Typhoons hit Vietnam coasts and pet-er out (avoiding YA censors) into one day of rain in Thailand. Exceptional weather does happen, but very rare to damp your vacation. Basic answer is that the rains and high heat are no problem on Thai beaches. Relax and enjoy.
