  • Answer:

Remove the cover and see if the fishing line is "Birdnested". Sounds like it is. These are simple reels and doesn't sound like anything serious. Once you've cleared the line of knots and backlash, try it. I've fixed this problem for the kids when they were small with those starter kits for the kids.

This happens because the line digs into the metal part inside of the reel where the line is held when you cast. This creates a small groove that the line gets stuck in and cannot move. To fix this.........buy a new reel. Buy a open face or a baitcaster.

It reels just fine. Line won't come out after pushing the button. Pulling line out works. Hmm... Do you have a weight on it?

Try loosening the round knob on the side of the reel until the lure tied to your line just starts to fall towards the ground. It sounds like it might be too tight. Rem oil works very well on all moving parts. Don't over lube though.
