Answer:
I don't think there are differences. Most snacks become starters in Thai restaurants. These are used in party but you also have main dishes curry and rice, etc. For wedding, birthday or for luck, dishes with lucky names or appearances are presented, many sweets have names which mean gold or honour are popular or noodles not cut when being prepared is considered for long life. Thai salad Somtum seems to be there in most parties, Somtum, sticky rice and grilled chicken, a combination preferred by most Thai.

Sometimes it depends on if you have more Farangs at your party or mostly Thais. I find more fruit and vegetables at Thai parties. Try washing a piece of pineapple down with a beer - blehh! Sometimes if it is a birthday there may be a cake. Some parties may have a pig roast. But for many parties you may have the same things you normally eat but more of it! More Farangs at the parties or one is paying for it expect more meat.

every party I've been to in the south of thailand for hatches, matches and dispatches or monk always has gaeng keow gai(green curry chicken) and tom muu (pork rib with mooli soup) without exception, additional dishes optional

Every day food mostly consists of fish and vegetables, with some meat and vegetables at times! Sometimes, noodles with fish/meal balls and vegatables. Party food? Mostly meat and chicken, with beer and/or wine.

There is no difference. Food is very important to Thai culture. When you have a party people even turn up early to help prepare the food. The preparation becomes part of the party too.
