    yes i have... i used the plastic bobbers that can be filled with water for casting weight and use flys with it. you just can get the good fly gliding across the water finess twich tho but it works alrite its just kinda like fly fishing but without the fly rods and fly casting

yeah, you can do it, but you might have to add some weight to get any distance. How about a small weight, or a fly with some weight in the head?

Yes, Lovin' the Outdoors gave you a nice setup. I haven't done this for a long time but I used to get small Crappie floaters and place them a couple of feet or so above my fly. I caught loads of Bluegill and small Bass doing this. In my opinion, the best kind of fly to throw with a setup like this are the popper styl flies. Just throw it out and twitch it all of the way in giving the fly the "popping" motion/sound, it's a lot of fun. This is a deadly thing in ponds, especially in the Summer.
