other than perhaps a few rough fish, the only gamefish l know of that is legal to fish for by snagging, is paddlefish. l think snagging cats might be illegal. better check your regulations, first. good luck to you.

Why not try catching the fish with a real hook and line with bait, catfish will fall for most baits so give it a go, its a lot better sport and means the fish can be released.
