When is the best time to have a second child?

My wife and I did that. We had forgotten everythin we knew about having a small baby by then. It was not easy. Now as they are both approaching teen years, 6 years apart has been good. ONly one of them in high schol at a time, and they are separated by years for the college routine as well. Our timing was unplanned, and rough in the beginning, but looking back now it was good timing.

I would have them close together so they can have fun growing up together, i would get preg, sometime this year

i would probably say after child #1 has gotten past the terrible twos!!!

I think a 3yr age gap is the best. 6-7 years is a very large gap and they will not have a great deal in common.

Birth order books say (paraphrase) after 5 years, having the next child often feels like starting over-- like 2 first borns. Maybe 2 years apart gives siblings a closer relationship so they have more in common as they play and grow up. My sister is 18 months younger than me and I love having a sister/buddy 24/7.

i would like to grow up with my brother or sister, or i would've liked to, should i say. my brother is 7 years older and i would have loved to have had the chance to have been closer to him. i'm 18 and he's 25. i think now would be a good time, concerning the chance for your children to be closer to each other, if that matters to you.

I think when you are ready and what you think will be best for your family. Myself I want to wait 3 years my fiancee says one year. We will see what happens. I am only 20 weeks pregnant with my first. If you feel ready then it might be time.
