Can I use an over and under shotgun to hunt?

What size shotgun shell. should I use to hunt rabbits?

  • What size shotgun shell should I use for hunting rabbit

  • Answer:

The 7 and 8 are fine when you are up close, but, you may want to have some 4's or 6's handy in case you spot one sitting still at a longer than average distance. The goal is to nut turn them into a fine red mist. As the one person mentioned, the 2 1/2 shells are best.

2 and 3/4 length and depending on the size of the rabbits i would go with a size 6 of 7 shot

Target loads will work. 7 1/2 or 6 shot would be better than 8 shot.

regular 2.75" or 70mm shell with #6 birdshot. although personally since i don't like picking out little lead pellets in my meat, I just use a 22

Are you using 12 gauge? Go with 2_3/4 #6 or maybe even #5 shot if you are using 12 gauge. If your using 20 gauge go with 2-1/2 #5 or #6 shot. Using .410. Go with the same as 20

I have always used 12ga. 2 3/4in number 4's.. It may have been overkill, but the pellets are larger, and that helps with getting them all out, when using 8's or even 7's you are gonna have a LOT more to pick out.
