How to get sponsorship by employers in the UK?

What should employers write in sponsorship letters for their employees visa to UK

  • Given that B1 visa success rates are falling. How can an India based employer write a good sponsorship letter for their employee to get a B1 Visa. The employer will take total control of the finances through out. The employee will return. The employee has been with them for several months. The employee is competent to carry out the task at hand. The business associates in US are requesting only a particular employee be sent.

  • Answer:

Here is a basic outline for employer sponsorship letters, to be provided by a foreign national in support of B-1 visa application/entry to the US.   a.      Summary of eligibility.  All of the key facts summarized in the first one or two paragraphs, so that if the Consular/Customs Border Protection Officer only reads this section, it confirms everything they need to know.   b.     Company description. Our typical company description is two-three paragraphs, includes a bit of company history, and an explanation of products/services and company operations, including confirmation of headquarters, locations, employees.    We also provide some background on specific projects or initiatives the visa applicant is involved in, to lay the groundwork for why he is now seeking entry to the US.   c.      Current position description for visa applicant. Summary of applicant’s current day-to-day duties and how he is compensated, including some background for what he has been doing for foreign company abroad for the last X months/years.   d.     Proposed activities in the US. The dates and locations of meetings, accommodations, and travel itinerary – are the basics. Beyond that, an explanation of exactly why the applicant’s presence is needed in the US, and how it will advance his current work performed abroad is crucial.   It should include specifically who he will be meeting with, what he will be discussing, and how that information will be applied in his work, abroad.   e.      Confirmation that the applicant will NOT be engaging in any productive work in the United States.  This is usually more important that what he WILL be doing.  Basically, he shouldn’t be doing anything he does abroad, for example, writing code, setting up computer systems, configuring switches, etc.     This section should also confirm that the employer has been advised and respects that if the company wishes to engage the applicant in productive employment in the United States, the company understands the applicant needs a work authorized status.   The outline is of course, filled out, and adjusted, based on the specific facts of the case.  If you have specific questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.   Finally, here is a link to article I posted explaining the B-1 visitor category: http://ryvinimmigrationblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/b-1-business-visitors-by-michael-ryvin.html Best of luck.
