What type of career can I get?

What type of career can you get with a degree in Philosophy?

  • Lots of website say that a person with a degree in philosophy can work in many areas. It is definitely true but finding the first job could be a nightmare. Do you have a degree in philosophy or do you know somebody else's experience? Please bear in mind that in lots of countries the university degree is focused on one subject (like philosophy) while in others the student can pick two (ex. philosophy + economy).

  • Answer:

Thanks for A2A. I do not have any degree in Philosophy but do have second-hand experience on this. There are lot of fields where you can make your career after studying philosophy. The best part is most of these career choices are interesting. The most popular is the Psychologist or medical or educational counselors. This degree will also help you to choose careers like Lawer, forensic or crime investigator, Private or Government detective, Journalist, Lecturer, banker to name the few. Now the bad part is, all the careers listed above needs specific certification or degree apart from the degree in Philosophy. So you may need to pick up the career you want and pass either degree or certification relevant to that career. E.g. To become a Journalist you may also need some certification in Journalism or Mass Communication apart from Physiology.  So if in your college you do not have any major subject apart from Philosophy, then try to clear the relevant certificates to land up in that job.
