That is because other leagues have 20 teams in their league. Bundesliga don't have 20 teams and if they start playing football now, that could mean they will have a longer break during the summer, but because there is international tournaments after the domestic league, it is better to have a longer Summer break than Winter break. As a Bundesliga fan, I think it is long as well but Bayern probably needed it because of the Club World Cup and German clubs can focus on January window.
