  Florence is about 3 hours away as opposed to 5 1/2 to either Milan or Venice Florence has the Uffizi Museum which houses the best collection of Renaissance Art in Italy, including Botticelli's Birth of Venus. Within walking distance from the Uffizi is the Academia which has Michelangelo's statue of David Also in Florence is the Ponte Vechhio which is a pedestrian bridge with nothing but jewelry stores on either side, Florence has some of the best leather shops (including a city block size open air leather market) in Italy.
