there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Ok I checked the one above.. N per night its was like 125 euros!! Thats too much. My friends found a hostel where the stayed for 4 days for 19 euros per day. Whereas I stayed with a woman who was leasing out a room and I paid 45 euros.. Very sweet Indian woman, Rose, who married an Italian, with 3 sons. The room was lovely just like a hotel room and it had a double bed and a single one too. Rose gave me breakfast the next day and also gave me a map of Rome and explained where to go and what to see. Plus point - Its in the center and on the next street are the Ancient Ruins and The Colosseum... I did all my sightseeing by foot.. No metro no bus nuthing! It varies a lot, depending on the area and the demand for rooms at the specific time. There are some hostels in Rome as well but many aren't great. One hotel I stayed in was the Hotel Romae on Via Palestro, just a few minutes walk north from Termini. It is a nice block and the room was small and simple but very clean and comfortable. It was super affordable too, as much as a youth hostel with much more privacy...
