What do think about players who change nationality ONLY to play football for another national team ?

I'm not talking about guys like Klose or Adu who have lived in the country they play for since they were four years old etc.... I'm talking about the dozens of Brazilian players ( ...show more

Answer:
I watched the World Cup qualifier between Iraq and Qatar, and about 5 of the Qatar players were Brazilians. Sometimes some of those richer countries that have bad football teams get these players, give them a much better life than they would have in Brazil and give them citizenship so they can play for them.

Agreed. If they were born to Italian parents in a foreign country and considered themselves Italians or moved back to Italy, etc then it is ok to be Italian tho he prolly has a passport from the country of birth also. But I otherwise do not like the idea. It just isn't right and takes away the whole concept of NTs
Marco
well its every player's dream to play in a World Cup so I can understand that, but you would have to prove that you deserve to play for the NT, show that you are proud of whatever country you choose to represent
Pepe
yes, but most of them do it coz they want better opportunities for themselves whc isnt a bad thing. wouldnt you if you were a gifted player (or think urslf as such) and you're not given the right opportunity? and yes its a lil awkward when they play ag. the team of their origins but there are worse things out there than that.

I suppose it dilutes the authenticity and sangre of any National Team while creating a bit more parity. Personally I don't like it, maybe that's why I have a chip on my shoulder about Adu. It is akin to the club teams buying 'better' players in critical positions like Goalkeeper and Forward, who then will have the opportunity to grow and prosper within the National system. How many Premiership Teams are there and how many good goal scorers do England have?

It depends! Klose and Adu might have their own reasons and I'm pretty sure that they are both good enough play for the country's that they were born...but the majority of the Argentine and Brazilians that do chance nationality is because they are not good enough to play for their national team! There is too much competition and for most of them...this is their only choice! You also have poeple like Guillermo Franco who was born in Argentina and became Mexican to go to the world cup! He said this himself...."I WOULD EVEN BECOME AN AFRICAN CITIZEN IF I HAVE TO, TO GO TO THE WORLD CUP!" So you have diffrent motives here! My main thing is that they are not good enough to be in the starting 11 of their own country so they have to switch if they ever want to attend a world cup!

Its a players stand point. For most players especially Brazilians they have a huge pool of players to pick from so most want to get to the World Cup one day but cant if they never get picked by the National team coach. If a player is from a smaller country and would the team as a whole would have to relay on that individual it would really put a strain on the player since he would be blamed if they win or lose. Also it has helped players from other nations exceed (Trezeguet, Camoranesi, Marcos Senna just to name a few)
