Hi, i live in Rome. You will find thousands different types of accomodation. The important is to find something near the center so u can go everywhere on foot or by bus. I think it would be fine if u find something in the very center but not around Termini: is not so safe for a girl or a woman. In particular way by night. This is a good site: http://www.sleepinitaly.com/ Bye :) ------------------ Friday...It depends on where u are. Really there are few places which are not recommendable. For example all the streets in the quarter which goes from via giolitti to piazza vittorio, between Porta maggiore and Termini station, not to mention Termini Station and the nighbourhood...there are many cheap hotels over there and u have to pay attention on the map when u book your reservation. However I would search for something in Rione Monti or Celio or Colle Oppio in addition to, obviously, the very center (Piazza Navona > Campo de' Fiori), they are cheap enough if u search and u can taste something different, you are in the real ancient Roma with everything at foot distance (which is not Termini) and plenty of good restaurants, pubs and a cute nightlife...you can go almost everywhere on foot and loose yourself in the magic wonderful world which is only reserved for who understand it. With all my respect I partially agree with you but surely Termini's atmosphere is not the same of Rione Monti. Bye :)

Hello Lulu, Never give up! You have a lot of varieties of hostels or hotels which suit to your budget. There are many pure business minded hotels and hostels also some hostels run by nun as charity. In via Cavour and in Via Nazionale, there are lot of hotels. And when you go very nearer to Vatican it costs much. You can search the net for the offers by the hotels. Via Nazionale and Via Cavour are located very near to Termini the main Bus station and Rail Station. And it is very easy to get there. www.Venere.com/Rome_Hotels , or www.booking.com/Roma or www.hotelmodigliani.com Go through these sites, you will definitely find or call this tel no. 0627800818 is of such a budget bed and breakfast run by the Rev. sisters. So be hopeful and search, you will find. Enjoy your visit to the eternal city of Rome.

Hi Lulu, I recommend you look for places to stay in the Termini area. It is not the most glamorous or beautiful area of Rome, but it is safe and good value. It is also very convenient - Termini is Rome's main train station and has a direct rail link to Fiumicino airport (Leonardo Express, 11 euros each way), and is also the only place in Rome where both Metro (subway/underground) lines cross (16 euros for a 7 day pass). The Eurostar from Termini is also a great way to get to Florence and Naples if you want to see a bit more of Italy. So, although it's not right in the middle of town, it's very easy to get to wherever you want to be (e.g. 3 stops/10 mins to Spagna Metro station for the Spanish Steps and dinner!). When I'm in Rome I stay at Hotel Canada in Via Vicenza - it's pretty good value and I would highly recommend it, but may be a bit much if you're looking for hostel money. Try www.venere.com for reviews of other options. Have a great time - it's a wonderful place! Edited to add: Re the comment below - I respect the fact the guy lives in Rome but I really do not agree that Termini is unsafe. I have walked back from close to the Pantheon to my hotel near Termini in the early hours of the morning a number of times and never seen or heard of anything to worry about. I also know of female travellers who have stayed there and have no concerns in doing so either. I'm not a Termini salesman, but in my view it is by far the best area if you're travelling on a budget, and is very well connected too. Check out www.tripadvisor.com and you'll find this question gets asked pretty often, and the great majority of answers are in line with mine. Termini's reputation is undeserved - if you're used to NY you're going to have no problems at all in Termini!

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
You should probably find something near the centre of Rome so you have easy access to places and transportation. I think this hotel'll fit you well: http://www.clickbed.com/rome-b-and-b/cesar-palace-rome-678.html?utm_source=laura&utm_medium=linkbuilding&utm_campaign=sep-roma It's not expensive, nice and close to everything!! Perfect for walking... If not, try looking another one in that site, if you book online there are discounts.
