With the fear of losing cheap Mexican Labor. Why Not Make Ex-Con's work in the fields?

I never thought of that. I mean it's a great idea, this people are enjoying all the taxes that we pay so they can just have a light life. Send them all to the fields, let those bums be something more useful.

I agree with you, except that I think you mean current convicts, right? But because that is logical and would interfere with a lot of political games, we won't see it happen here in California..

I have been preaching this for weeks! Why not use convict labor? We're already paying for their keep and they should contribute to our society to earn their way back to civilization. It will work not only in the Ag jobs, but also road repair and many other things. Let people look at them, a chain gang is just that and all it takes is a couple of guards with high powered rifles to let them them pay their debt to society! We don't need illegal aliens for anything with vast warehouses of convicts to choose from, they lost their rights when they were sentenced!

There are states like AZ that are doing it>Have them build prisons in the desert & the fence on the borders>They like to work let them>Have them clean up the borders where they dumped all there garbage> Better than in prison pumping iron & getting bold>

i agree with u but then u be going back to the old chain gangs .and ppl look at that kind of weird.down here in texas they do let them work out side in the city witha officer overlooking them

Some jobs will never pay much. Most picking jobs fit this category. People who pick for a living do not live in normal houses, or even low end apartments, but usually in large groups in baracks or plywood shack housing close to the field. Theirs is a subsistance life. I would never make fun of people who have to pick for a living. People getting out of prison would never opt for a life picking for the reasons outlined above. It would be like a continuation of life on the chain gang. Peace

Why do they have to have cheap labor...Is it because they're greedy? They sure as hell are not passing it on, we don't see low prices in the market place on the goods produced by this cheap labor...

As stated previously, if they have paid their debt to society they do deserve a second chance but does anyone realize how difficult it is to get a job once you are released from prison/jail. Just about every employer does a background check so if you have a felony then you typically will not get the job. That goes for attending college as well, forget that idea as well.

If ppl have been to prison they have paid their debt to societly.And they should not be viewed as ex cons, come on ppl deserve a second chance are you sinless?i know for sure i am not.i am not criminal fortunately but i have done things wrong.rehabilation is better than continued harssment. just because criminals in prison get advantages why not ask them what they would prefer freedom or cable tv in a cell???they are human and have right too.
