  um i had an overbite so they tried using rubber bands and that did not work too well at first so they were going to use these things that were like permanent rubber bands only it was metal and looked like a spring I think it was called a forcer they only keep it on for like one or two visits I ended up not having to get it but I am guessing that you could use it for an underbite too
