I can suggest you the Medici Hotel. It is in the very city centre, with a wonderful sight over the cathedral, and it is not even expensive. Rooms are not too big. give a look at it here: http://www.hotelscombined.it/Hotel/Medici_Hotel_Florence.htm?a_aid=24594&label=ya

I stayed at the Plaza Hotel Lucchesi. It's totally old world, no pool or anything but classy and you can dine from your room overlooking the Arno if you so wish. It's close enough to walk into the centre of the city.

Hi, i just returned from Florence, I stayed for 3 nights with a friend. We stayed at the Ibis Hotel in Campi Bisenzio, it's a but far from the city (40 mins on bus) but it was very modern, comfortable and clean and was only €45 per night for a double/twin room! There is also an Ibis hotel near the airport which is slightly more expensive but depending on how far in advance you book you might get it for €40/45 per night. You should check out the rates for your stay at http://www.ibishotel.com One of the highlights of my trip was going to Piazza Michelangelo to see the view of Florence from there, it was amazing! I recommend you book tickets to museums and cathedrals in advance as the queues were huge when we were there so we didn't get to see inside a lot of places! Pisa is only 40/50 mins away by train and tickets are only €5.90 one way so i would definitely recommend that you take a trip there to see the Leaning Tower Of Pisa! Florence is an amazing city, hope this helps and hope you have a great time!

I like the Hotel Duomo which is right next to the Duomo in the old town. Florence is pretty compact (the tourist areas at least) and you can walk to everything. It's also a short walk to the train station. http://www.venere.com/hotels/florence/hotel-duomo/ There are lots of other possibilities you can check out on the Venere website as well.
