How many Americans live in Germany?

And how many Germans live in America? Does anyone know or does anyone know where I can find information about it?

I've live in Europe since 1996 and because of employment I bounced back and forth between Belgium and Germany. I retired two years ago and just bought a house near Stuttgart, GE. We are in the process of obtaining German driver's licenses and we get resident alien cards after that. I've heard at that point German Customs will stamp our passports so that we can come and go as we please.

The top answer is correct, I would just like to add that america has decided to close a certain amount of their military bases in Europe by the end of 2012 due to the cuts in military spending, and at least one base in Germany will be affected so the amount of DoD personnel is bound to decrease in the next few years...
