Speeding ticket and insurance - need help please?

  • I got a speeding ticket, the cop said I drove 72 instead of 50, I did not and I am sure I did not.Anyway, I have never got any ticket before, drive for many many years. Does it ...show more

  • Answer:

One minor speeding ticket will have a small impact on your rates, or none at all. In three years it will no longer affect your rates. This counts as three points. Keep this in mind: "At nine points, your licence will be suspended for 60 days from the date you surrender it to the Ministry of Transportation. You can lose your licence for up to two years if you fail to surrender your licence. " The points stay on your record for two years. Up to you if you want to hire a paralegal like X-Copper ... probably not a big benefit in this case. Good luck

do they have you recorded on radar? you will have to go to court to hope to get it reduced to a lower speeding charge 22 mph over the speed limit MIGHT get you points, which MIGHT raise your insurance

if you really think you can contest the ticket, then go to traffic court. the date and time is listed right on the ticket. the cop will be there to refute you tho. if the judge finds in your favor you have to pay court costs and may have to take a class at night. but if you just pay the ticket and don't show up in court, it will be on your driving record for 3 years and your premium will be elevated all 3 years.
