  performing art involves the physical presence of the artist, mostly with an audience. visual art is about an art object that can be experienced using sight. performing art in general is something to watch, though it can also be sound or even one or more of the other senses. ah I made that common mistake of confusing performing art with performance art. my answer is about performance art. performing art is what one does on a stage, whether it be singing, dancing or whatever. it's a 'show', an event. whereas visual art is mainly a thing, a physical object.
