If i put rubber cement on the paper mache mask i'm making, will it make it harder?

i'm making a paper mache mask, by using pat clay. a clay made for paper macheing.

I would not use rubber cement. It will not strengthen the paper mache. In fact when it is dry it remains very pliable (ie. It doesn't get hard). It is also hard to work with. If you want an easy way to harden it just smear white glue, like Elmer's, over the mask. That is a much better way to make the mask harder.
