What are some free photography contests?

  Just do a google/yahoo search for "photography contest free" and you'll find some there. Be very careful entering these contests though. Often, the fine print that nobody reads, will say that once you enter their contest, you have given up all rights to that image. You can't sell it, enter it in contests, or even show it on a Flickr site because it belongs to them. Even if they don't take away all of your rights to the image, they will claim you have released the image to them for whatever use they feel necessary. They sell them, or use them in advertising campaigns that would normally have to pay a professional photographer hundreds, or thousands of dollars to use their image and they just got yours free. Just think about it and make sure you read ALL of the small print before you click the "I agree" button.
