I need some winter boots.

Do i need to wear boots to keep me warm during winter on January in Central Japan?

it helps to wear warm socks since many homes don't have central heating -- i would also recommend buying leg warmers (i stocked up at a Japanese dollar store) and wearing them under your pants. Is this your first time traveling to Japan??

No you don't, unless you're going northern Japan like Hokkaido. People might wear boots since they look fashionable, but not because it's warm in Tokyo or Osaka.

Lussets

Boots, thermal underwear, fleeces, warm winter coat etc. You'll need them all. I live near Osaka and winter is cold. No central heating neither.
