Why isn't my website in google search results?

Is there a way to make sure that pages from my website (in English) appear in search results from country specific google websites e.g. google.pl ? If not what are my options?

  • Right now if I go to google.pl and search for "hotele w londynie", it shows pages all in Polish. When I search for "Hotels in London", same page shows me everything in English. So is it right to assume that my pages will only come up if the polish user types in English?

  • Answer:

Google is most likely to return results in the language searched for - especially the native language of that country - i.e. Polish on http://Google.pl Poland. If you are looking to pick up organic traffic from multiple countries then it may be worth setting up translated versions of the site for your major markets and using the href lang tag to state the language and country for each version. This avoids duplicate content issues when creating slight variations of your site for different countries.
