  • Answer:

    1. Don't know, ou will need to contact the schools around your location. 2. Photoshop or Illustrator. Or for free you can try Gimp and InkScape. One is for traditional drawing, the other creates vectors, which are ok for manga style due to it's very nature. 2b. Look into Wacom tablets...The Bamboo model is the cheapest, if you want to just try it out. 2c. Highly doubtful as the proper anime industry is localized in Japan and their business etiquette can be touch and go with outsiders. 3. Would be really harsh, due to language and culture barrier. Read up upon Japan's business world and etiquette. My suggestion would be to get a good animation formation and find a local job instead.

No colleges specialize in anime as far as I know. At least, not out here in the United States. Hence why it's called anime and manga, these are Japanese terms. With any art you need to learn the fundamentals. Even if you are an animator for Spongebob or trying to be the next Michelangelo you need to take life-drawing classes and learn anatomy (as well as other things of course). Go to a normal art school (no point listing them, there are too many. Do research) and take drawing classes, animation classes, etc. To be an animator for anime though, you would more than likely need to move to Japan and learn Japanese. It's a Japanese art. Photoshop CS (or just normal Photoshop) and Painter are good tools. PaintTool Sai is really good as well. And you are refering to a tablet (the "drawing pad"). Check out Wacom's products as they are by far the best. I would suggest doing research on your third question as you probably aren't going to get a hold of a Japanese animator here on Yahoo! Answers. :)

Deviantart.com is a great place if you like anime, there is so much artwork on there to see how people do their shading and there are lots of tutorials if you search 'eyes tutorial' or whatever. It's free to join, you can get membership but don't bother.
