I will be living in France for all of 2011. I will be receiving 2500 Euros each month as an academic. Can someone tell me approximately how much tax will be deducted from my salary ...show more

Unlike in the UK you have to pay yourself your income tax, the idea is so that you know exactly what you are paying, You're not saying if it is net salary or gross salary. if net, you would have around 1700 Euros to pay for the year. The first year (Jan to Dec) you have to make a declaration at the end of the year, you will then be asked to pay everything in one go. Then you can ask to be debited monthly based on your previous year salary, with a reassessment at the end of the year.
