When is the best time to visit the south of France?

it depends if you love the world and crowded beaches when actually the best time is June to September ... But if you like peace and quiet walks then I think of September to late October is very good or May to June are times when it is not yet too hot. The most popular places are "canes" "nice" "Saint Tropez" "Marseille" but there are so many other ... Canne, Nice and St. Tropez are very expensive places, Marseille is more affordable, it all depends on your budjet there is also the Cap d'Agde is a friendly place ...

Mid May to Mid June is the best period. Warm weather but not yet scorching hot and no huge crowds of tourists. As well, the tourist staff is not yet exhausted. Mid September is nice too but things are closing down.
