  • Answer:

It's impossible for anyone to predict what living expenses, in any country, will be like in two years time. While it's great you want to study in France, there are a few facts you need to face before you set your heart on going there. It would seen from your other questions that you're not from an EU country. If that's correct then, while it's possible for you to study in France, it is not possible for you to settle there either permanently or just for a year or two. You will be allowed to get a study visa once you've been accepted by a French university, and this will allow you to work part-time to supplement your income. But once your study is finished, you will need to return home. Moving to France permanently is just about impossible now for non-EU citizens. While you can apply for jobs in France, be aware that, as I keep pointing out to others, the employer needs to prove that there are no French or EU citizens available to fill the position before any work visa paperwork can be undertaken. And, unless you have special skills that are not available in the EU, this is impossible. If, however, you are a EU citizen, then go for it, as you are certainly entitled to study, work and live in France.

You do not mention where you are from. If you are not from an EU country just forget it. You cannot move to France. You may visit France as a tourist for three months. There is a remote and difficult possibility of getting a long term residence visa. but you still will not be able to work in France. If you are from an EU/Schengen country right now it would be very hard to find work, with so very many unemployed. In that case you will find France quite expensive compared to most other places in the world. You will need to learn to economize and live very frugally. Much will depend on the exchange rate of the euro to other world currencies.
