The Gironde region on the coast to the North of Bordeaux is very good and full of campsites - see http://www.uk.tourisme-gironde.cg33.fr/ The drive down from a channel port isnt too bad

caution, in north of france we have around 20°c, in south its more 27°c. if you want going camping, maybe Dordogne could be good (near Bordeaux) and people is very nice, or on the coast of Pyrénées (Basque country)... so i hope you'll have nice holiday/week-end

there is a wonderful campsite at Angers. its by a beautiful lake and river. its lovely for cycling. the town is pretty with good bars and restaurants. i have travelled a lot and i can honestly say this was the most enjoyable relaxing short break ive had in years. i love france and there are so many good places to go. everywhere along the mediterranean coast is good. St Remy. Arles and the carmargue is sooo lovely. ooohhhh you've got me going now. i'm off to pack my tent. lol

The Franche Compte area. The fresh walnuts are just about ready now, and they grow wild in that area. The auberges are great and the food really good. You can cross over into Switzerland (Basle) by tram and stroll along the banks of the Rhine
