Answer:
i've been to biarritz and st. jean de luz, both in southwestern france near spain. they are both wonderful towns where the beach is the main focus. i'm not sure about the night life since i was there on day trips, but you should check them out and possibly go into spain for a day (st. sebastian is really close).

South of France is normally considered to be Med coast and the Atlantic Coast near Spain. The French med coast is about 650km long - so lots of choice ? Poitou-Charentes is somewhere in the midlands ! The Atlantic coast and the Languedoc Med coast are quieter and cheaper than Provence / Cote d'Azur. Languedoc also has many more cheap flight connections than Cote d'Azur and the Biarritz areas. Why not research Marseillan Plage, as a starter ? Peter

You need to go to the Poitou-Charentes region: http://fr.camping-direct.eu/images/carte/pays/poitou-charente.gif The weather is hot, but not hot enough that you have to stay inside and can't do nothing which is the case in southern parts of France. At the moment it is about 35°c here. If you have a car and are willing to travel maxi-mun 2 hours then a good place to stay would be the Vienne or the Charente: http://www.orthodontie-fr.com/modules/edito/images/uploads/poitou.jpg Why?Because: -There is a attraction park in Poitiers called FUTUROSCOPE that you and your daughter would like. - Shops there too -Other parks including, The monkey park, Island of Snakes, the Giants of the sky, Crocodile planet...and lots more. If you are looking to be more towards the coast, I really suggest Saint-Georges-De-Didonne(only 2hours from Poitiers), it is about 10mins from the centre of Royan. It is lovely, beaches are clean, weather is hot, shops along the seaside, delicious restaurants, great nightlife, spas, casinos, sport activities... Here is the tourist site for the Vienne www.tourisme-vienne.com which does go in English And for Royan www.royan-tourisme.com www.saintgeorgesdedidonne.com Please check them out.
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
You should look for Antibes between Cannes and Nice for nightlife and beaches. For the landscape take a look between Cassis and Saint-Tropez. This year it's not difficult to find a hotel whithout booking it.
