I know my grandfathers name and his year of birth, how can I find out his parents names? online?

  • Answer:

If you know where and when he married, the parents' names of both parties are usually stated. Depending where the marriage took place, a record may be available online.

In the U. S., usually the death certifcate will have that information. You probably won't find it on line. Ancestry.Com has indexes of death records but they usually don't give parents' names. I think Colorado's are an exception. Each state has its own laws about who, when and where a person can obtain vital records on another.
