How can I find out the names of my great great grandfather's parents?

If I know my grandfathers name and year of birth, can I find out online his parents names? UK?

  • Answer:

If you can find your grandfathers name on a church record (christenings have always been recorded) or birth records of city hall of the town he was born in that would be of help. I don't know the year he was born in of course so he could have been born at home otherwise check with the hospitals. There are a lot of genealogy websites as well that you can access but if all fails, pack your bags and go do a search in person. Nowadays a lot of towns will make an effort to file records on computer, but depending on where he is from you may have to open a dusty book or two.

Yes you can. You can go to any Genealogy website to find out. It may cost you a few dollars to do it though. Some even offer a trial membership. Or there should be some kind of vital records or library of family genealogy that you can go to in your country that lets you find any information on your family. Hope this helps.
