Can anyone advise me on taking a 3/4 night holiday in Paris, where to stay at the most reasonable rate?

If it's 500€ for 3 nights it's around 166€/night. I think you could definitly find a room at this price in the center if you book early :). For example, the hotel Quai Voltaire (http://www.quaivoltaire.fr/ ). I made a simulation. If you go to Paris June, 21st to the 24th (3 nights), you can find a room from 144euros/night. It's a beautiful hotel, but you can find cheaper, like the hotel Home Latin (http://www.hotelhomelatinparis.com/ ). With the same simulation I found a double room at 108Euros/night. This hotel is in the Latin Quarter, a beautiful, a active area :). Or the hotel California st-Germain (http://www.californiaparishotel.com/ ). It's located right in st-germain area, an awesome district of Paris, very central, popular, and very accessible with the metro! You can find a room from 133Euros/night :)... See, the center of Paris could be accessible for you !
