  It all depends how much you want to pay and what will be your expectations from a hotel. Let me explain. Paris is a city of walk. I do not pay extra for a hotel if I am going to spend much of the day outside for fun and attractions and food. I will find a hotel with a breakfast service like bed and breakfast and spend all day in the city taking tours for different attractions and use the hotel for a place to rest and taking shower. Paris has many places to visit. I was there last August for 10 days and got a small hotel in 2 arrondistant area.There were a lot of restaurants and bars also shopping area too. For transportation use the metro system and for that I will suggest you to get the orange card which is required a passport size picture to attach and it is good for a week starting form Monday 12 am to Sunday 12 midnight. and you can charge the card for the second week you don't need to get a new one. Using metro is very easy. Also make sure to secure your money and purse they are well know pocket pickers it happened to me and I lost 200 Euro plus some credit card. Have fun
