For that purpose I suggest you Studio Butte: http://www.clickbed.com/paris-apartments/estudio-butte-montmartre-paris-470.html?idlb=01 It's quite cheap and good for a few nights there and it's close to many popular places.

I‘m afraid not. There are thousands of hotels and restaurants in Paris, and I haven‘t tried them all. Anyone who claims to be an expert on hotels and restaurants is lying, unless he evaluates such establishments for a living (the only way he could ever get enough experience to qualify as an expert). Your best bet is a good travel guide, like the Michelin guide (michelin.com). It‘s a lot less romantic, but it‘s more objective and accurate. I‘ve always been puzzled in particular by people who ask residents of a city for advice on hotels. A resident is just about the last person to ask about hotels in the city, since he usually has a place of his own and has never stayed in any of the city‘s hotels. Asking about restaurants isn‘t quite as bizarre, but still, most residents have just a few favorite restaurants, and have never even tried 99.999% of the restaurants available. So asking Parisians about Paris hotels (or, to a lesser extent, restaurants) is often a waste of time.

I stayed in Paris for a week in 2008,I stayed at the Hotel Passey Eiffel, it is very low key and very close to a good bar and the eiffle tower and a metro station, one thing to be aware of, Never go into the "red light" district where the Chat Noir, and the Moulin Rouge is located at night. This is where a lot of drug addicts and hookers and just shady people hang out. I reccomend going in the day time. No matter how long the line be sure to go up into the eiffel tower at night and during the day....both are spectacular! Also go up into the arc du triumph, be sure to wear tennis shoes, it is only stairs. Walk the champs Elyse, but don't buy anything it is very over priced there. Make sure to visit the Sacure Coure.....it is beautiful, do not walk up the hill pay for the trolley up the hill. Spend time in the art disctrict once you are up there. Set aside almost a whole day for the louvre if you are interested. Take the metro every where, it is very easy. Be aware of your surrondings, pick pockets are very common in Paris, dont bring a purse, use a wristlet or put your money in your front pocket. A lot of small places do not accept what we consider major credit cards, american express is no where, use mainly cash, do not get travelors checks, they are useless it is very hard to find places to use them. Bring your money, banks are not common. Brush up on your French, they are generally helpful if you at least try to speak french. Bring extra clothes in your carry on and make sure to check where your checked lugage is going, mine went to boston and even my french teacher didn't have luck with the air port in Paris. I reccomend to not check your luggage.
