Day 1. Eifel Tower - take metro to Trocadero then cross the Seine. Two 'legs' of the tower have lifts and two have stairs - the short queues are for the stairs. Fewer people at the end of the day. Decide if you really must go up and allocate plenty of time accordingly - best on a clear day. As the Eifel tower is somewhat isolated, you may do best to then get the metro to Etoile (for Place de l'Etoile where the arc de triomphe is, at the top of the Champs Elysees - CE). There's an underpass at north side of CE to the metro and the arc. Unless you particularly want to spend ages walking the full length of the CE, get the metro to Concorde, walk through the Tuileries gardens to the Louvre. Decide if you really must see the Mona Lisa at the Louvre. if not, the Musee d'Orsay, on the south bank of the river has impressionists - but maybe for another day. Day 2. Ile de la Cite is where the Notre Dame cathedral is. you could get the metro to St Michel and get a feel of the Left bank area, then cross the branch of the Seine to the Ile (island). Notre Dame is magnificent, but my favourite is Ste Chapelle - entrered through the law courts. At the eastern end of the Ile is a Holocaust memorial. At the western end of the Ile, on the tip, you can get boat trips on the river. You could go to Montparnasse and pay to visit the top of the tower for the views - however, there is a restaurant at the top (with its own direct lift) and you can go for a drink in the bar and watch the sunset and the lights come on- for a similar price (suggest you check this option is still available). Day 3. ? left bank (south of the Seine opposite the Ile de la Cite) & Luxembourg gardens ? Visit to the sewers - seriously - and it's not smelly. ? Rodin museum ?....... Pack comfortable shoes. it's often much quicker to walk between places than catch the metro. Also, interchanges on the metro can be 5 or 10 minute walks ! Carry water, as drinks are expensive. Sit-down restaurant lunches are often limited to 12:00 - 14:00
